The Vermont Brewers Association takes pride in its commitment to four essential pillars: education, community, governance, and marketing. As a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, we are dedicated to actively involving and promoting our member breweries, contributing to the realization of our vision for Vermont as the premier state for craft beer. We extend a warm invitation to all Vermont-based breweries to join our association, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you.

How to Apply for VBA Brewery Membership

To initiate the application process, please complete the following steps by email:

  • Attach your copy of the Brewers Notice issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau
  • Attach a copy of your Vermont License to Manufacture Malt Beverages issued by the Vermont Department of Liquor ControlVermont License to Manufacture Malt Beverages issued by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control
  • Prepare a letter of introduction that requests consideration for membership and includes the location of the brewery, system size and projected volume of production as well as the business model (brewpub, taproom, package, distribution)
  • Attach a signed copy of the Brewers Association’s Code of Conduct adopted August 8, 2020 

Once these steps are completed, send all of the relevant documentation to our Executive Director, Emma Arian, and arrange for a site visit with her and/or a member of the Board of Directors.

Following the site visit, the Board of Directors will review the documents and conduct a vote to admit the new member. This decision will be made either at the next Board meeting or through email correspondence.

Once this review is done and your brewery has been accepted, you will receive a confirmation email.

Are you a Brewery In Planning?

New as of 2025, we are inviting breweries in planning to join the VBA!

Eligibility:

  • Intends to open a brewery or brewpub in Vermont.
  • Be based in Vermont and intends to join the VBA as a Brewery Member upon opening of operations.

Application & Dues:

  • Prepare a letter of introduction that requests consideration for membership and includes the location of the brewery, system size and projected volume of production as well as the business model (brewpub, taproom, package, distribution).
  • All breweries in planning pay $250 per year until they receive their TTB Brewer’s Notice and a Vermont License to Manufacture Malt Beverages issued by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control. When you have both of these, your membership and benefits are upgraded to Brewery, but your dues will not change until the following renewal period.
  • Please Note: Brewing in Planning is a non-voting membership and cannot be on the GAC committee. When you receive your TTB Brewer’s Notice and Vermont License to Manufacture Malt Beverages, you will become eligible for voting (including board elections) and the GAC committee.
